AJ approached me to replicate the "Verified" Genius video with my own style. This project was more than just fulfilling a client’s needs—it was a significant learning experience. It pushed me to explore text animation and slide movement, and also introduced me to green screen work. This project not only met the client's expectations but also expanded my skill set, showcasing what HCP can achieve and adding a new skill to my repertoire.

AJ pulled up to the HCP studio in Portland, OR to discuss his song
"Believe or not (Ripley's)" a single released last summer.

This Portland based Christian rapper shares insight on the blessings and challenges in establishing a music focused artist community; ending with a positive note about solo journeying and looking forward to realizing your dream despite the many more challenges ahead.

Questions That Need Answers

Jerrod Pearsun asked me to craft a one-take concept to visually narrate the story of Luke 18:9-14. Using top-of-the-line equipment and a small team, we executed a single-frame story that establishes a unique cinematic perspective. This approach sets us apart from the simpler, less stylish work often seen in Portland, showcasing a distinctive look and feel tailored to the artist.

This video draws inspiration from Luke 18:9-14, where Jesus breaks down the difference between a self-righteous Pharisee and a humble tax collector. The Pharisee brags about his goodness, while the tax collector just asks for mercy. Jesus shows us that humility and repentance win over self-righteousness.

Visually, we bring this timeless lesson into a modern vibe. The music's lyrics express questions we've all asked ourselves at some point, like "Why do I have to do the right thing?" "Why was I betrayed?" "Why be the bigger person?" "Why should I care about someone who hurt me?" This video is about the real questions we ask ourselves and God.

By blending these stories, we hope you can vibe with the artist's journey while picking up something new about what Jesus thinks of self-righteousness. The tax collector's humility is a lesson for us all.

My hope is that you see yourself in these characters and that their stories resonate with you.
